Choice of venue & outfits:
When I first moved to London, I lived in Willesden Green for 2 years but always worked central in Oxford St or Piccadilly. So, I discovered the clubs in Soho with my colleagues, ex-boyfriend and friends. When I moved to Kennington for just 6 months, Vauxhall was close, but I still preferred to go to Soho because it was already familiar and it was central for everyone to meet.
G-A-Y had the best music, you knew you would have a good dance - Freedom was sometimes great, sometimes not. G-A-Y always guaranteed a good night - I'm talking about Astoria, but the same goes for the other G-A-Y venues when Astoria got demolished.
Dalston Superstore - very small place, but always fun and very nice atmosphere. Fun people, fun music - I would always go there if I was in the area.
I used to also go to Black Cap in Camden, it was more of a day to night venue, plus the drag shows were fun and closer to my place in Manor House.
In every place I was in, I would dress the same - regular, smart, jeans, shirt or t-shirt, depending on the weather or season. All the places I was going to were a similar, regular vibe, nothing crazy. Of course, some people were sometimes wearing more colourful stuff, but pretty much everyone was wearing regular clothes.
