" I don't think I wore something that different each time, like I never really dressed specifically for the club. Not far off just what I wear to work..."

Place of residence: London SE19

Venues visited: Circa Club, Freedom, Friendly Society, G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late, Heaven / G-A-Y, Ku Soho

Choice of venue & outfits:

I went to those mostly because they were the most accessible. Sometimes I was also with straight people from work, so we wanted to go to more of a 'tame' or 'typical' gay bar rather than somewhere a bit more out of the box like Dalston Superstore.

To be honest, I don't think I wore something that different each time, like I never really dressed specifically for the club. Not far off just what I wear to work, basically just within my style at the time. My t-shirts tend to be plain or a graphic on it.

I didn't really feel like there was a dress code at these places, I could just wear my baggy top and didn't feel out of place or anything. Except in Circa, I felt like I stood out even though I was comfortable with what I was wearing. All the other guys were in a shirt and trousers, or leather gear. I was in baggy jeans and a baggy tshirt! I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable or anything, I just felt a little out of place.

I've never felt comfortable enough to wear short shorts, or mesh or anything like that. Not sure I'd want to, anyway.

If the music or venue was something I was into, then the crowd wouldn't phase me. But there is no way I'd have my top off in a club, I would never feel comfortable with my current body.
