Choice of venue & outfits:
Safety, safety, safety. Also was always looking to hook up back then so always best to go where the gays are.
I would wear sports kit to fetish nights. But would often go wearing what I thought was fashionable at the time, usually a shirt and jeans or a t-shirt. Always cool trainers or shoes. I’ve always been about fragrance. I used to wear a lot of Hermes perfume that was always important to me... to smell nice.
My preference was for a masc crowed but I never felt like I fit in with them as they were all muscle boys. And the other crowd was like camper and always more fun, so I definitely flitted from straight to gay to masc to camp.
I used to work at a gay sauna in Soho and would flyer around Soho on the weekend to attract punters into the venue. I would wear super short shorts, high top trainers and a tight t-shirt. Basically, dressed as trade to get in punters.
